It is a Roman archaeological site located on the southern side of the historic town of Qanawat (ancient Kanatha), and its construction dates back to the second half of the 2nd century AD. The temple was built and dedicated to the worship of the sun god Helios, and its ruined remains today stand atop a raised platform surrounded by six columns with Corinthian capitals decorated with acanthus leaves.
