Al-Hayr Western Palace

An ancient Umayyad castle built by Caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik in the Syrian Desert in Homs Governorate. The palace was famous for being a desert resort equipped with a sophisticated irrigation system, and its famous ornate facade was moved to the center of the entrance of the National Museum in Damascus.
