Kathedraal van Tartous

(Tartus Cathedral) This was the Catholic cathedral in the city of Tartus, Syria. Constructed during the 12th century, it has been described by historians as "the finest religious structure of the Crusades." The cathedral was renowned among pilgrims during the Crusades because Saint Peter had previously commissioned the building of a small church there dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
