The Fountain of Al-Fawwar is a famous natural phenomenon and a prominent tourist attraction. It is a limestone crevice from which fresh, pure water suddenly and spontaneously gushes forth. The water enters from a specific point deep within the earth, then bursts forth in enormous quantities, accompanied by a loud sound similar to the beating of drums before rising. The eruption lasts between one and four hours, then disappears again.
