Zindaan-e-Shaam

The ruined prison in Damascus where the family of the Prophet (peace be upon him) were held captive after the Battle of Karbala, is known for its harsh conditions, including the death of Lady Ruqayya bint al-Husayn. Its historical site is located in Old Damascus, next to the Umayyad Mosque, where the shrine of Lady Ruqayya now stands.
