Museum of Arabic Calligraphy

The Museum of Arabic Calligraphy is located in the Mamluk-era al-Jaqmaqiyya Madrasa in Old Damascus, in the al-Kallasa neighborhood, directly behind the Mausoleum of Saladin and a few meters from the northern entrance of the Great Umayyad Mosque. It is a world-class center documenting the history of Arabic writing throughout the ages. The museum houses rare artifacts ranging from pre-Islamic inscriptions to contemporary calligraphic works, including prophetic letters and ancient Qur'ans.
