Archaeological site The word “Shawna” is from Arabic and means a grain storehouse. It is located in front of the gate of the Aleppo Citadel. It was built as a market and warehouses where grain and other crops were collected during the reign of the governor of Aleppo, Khusraw Pasha, in the year 955 AH / 1548 AD.
